Now as to whether the P_OpFM technology should be released to the general public as a consumer product:

While I understand that the benefit of this technology is to allow anyone possessing ears -- regardless of telepathic ability -- to tune into the pop music frequencies of other dimensions for the first time, this must be balanced with the cost involved. Yes, ‘pop music at any cost’ is the guiding dictum but the extreme nature of the invention cannot simply be handwaved in an ironic manner. These are the sensitive ears of the pop music fan we are playing with here.

During my trial of the P_OpFM aural implant, my pop music enjoyment was interrupted with sporadic communiqués from a nearby (dimensionally positioned) lot of beings who have unpalatable plans for the human race. Though I was unable to hear their exact name or the location of their headquarters, I have over the course of the day come to understand that they possess what can only be described as a fervor for the avant-garde unconstrained by any moral obligation. Their only ‘aim’ as a species is to create novel experiences and thus they are capable of things that to us seem obscene and arbitrary. They will erase and replace parts of us as they see fit. They wish to take complete control of our senses. And btw: they live forever and thus fear nothing of Karma. They care only for the NEW. At any cost. Or so I have ‘heard’ through the implant:

They have imminent plans to replace all human eyes with the eyes of amphibians. They will then move on to the ears, then the nose, and ‘so on and so on’.

Note: please do not try to pass any of the above off as a ‘a pop song’. Pop songs are formulaic: there is absolutely no ‘formula’ to the concoctions of these beings. As noted, they would rather slaughter entire planets than conform to a basic verse→chorus→verse—>middle-eight construction.

While I understand that intercepting these communications and taking action on such threats remain the purview of the Australian Military rather than being the responsibility of the average pop music listener, I feel obliged to bring this issue to the developer’s attention. Hearing such things while trying to enjoy brand-new original pop music was, to put it one way “somewhat troubling.” It remains a problem that the P_OpFM prototype still picks up these frequencies. For some with softer stomachs than mine this could be a dealbreaker when considering signing up for a yearly subscription.

As to the audio quality, it is more or less satisfactory. Regarding song selection: my personal preference is for rock music but having read in the manual that “P_OpFM has been developed with the listener’s pleasure in mind: that means the tuning out of all guitar noise,” I will take into account that my taste may be the thing at fault here.

One final note: the promised anti-piracy technology seems to be ineffectual. As legal counsel, I strongly suggest that the public not be allowed any chance or ability to record what they hear, and that more extreme measures be taken.
